Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to honest questions.

The twelve questions ministers ask us most, answered plainly. If yours is not here, write to us and we will reply.

Before you ask

Twelve questions.

Grouped roughly in the order you are likely to need them: who, when, how, and what comes after.

01Who can apply to the Foundation?

Ministers who are actively serving as apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors or teachers anywhere in Ghana, who belong to a recognised and verifiable denomination (or have a strong recommendation from a recognisable figure in ministry), and whose households are in genuine financial need. The full criteria are on our eligibility page.

02Do I have to belong to a denomination?

Belonging to a recognised denomination, such as Lighthouse Chapel International, ICGC or The Church of Pentecost, is the clearest route, because it allows us to verify your ministry. If you serve independently, you can still apply, but you must provide a strong recommendation from a recognisable figure in ministry who knows your work and will speak for it.

03When can I apply?

Applications open once every quarter and stay open for seven days. Outside that window, the application form is closed. Leave your email address and phone number on the Request Support page and we will let you know, by email and on WhatsApp if you allow it, as soon as the next window opens.

04Is there an age limit, or a requirement to be married?

No. There is no age limit, and single, married and widowed ministers are all welcome to apply. Your circumstances do shape how your application is assessed, but they never exclude you.

05I minister part-time and work another job. Can I still apply?

Yes. Full-time and part-time ministers are both eligible. Many faithful shepherds work during the week precisely because their congregations cannot support them. The Foundation considers full-time and part-time ministry differently when assessing need, but both are welcome.

06Should my spouse or children apply separately?

No. A minister and his or her household are considered as one applicant. Your spouse’s and children’s needs, including school fees and spouse development, are included in your household’s application.

07What can support be used for?

Support is for the minister and the minister’s household: welfare and living needs, medical emergencies, children’s education and similar personal needs. We do not fund church buildings, land, crusades or conferences, general church running costs, staff salaries or political activity.

08How do you verify an application?

We check your documents against your Ghana Card, confirm your role with your denomination and contact your referees. In some cases the Foundation will send an agent to verify your identity, your location and your ministry in person. Supplying genuine information and presenting authority figures in ministry as referees makes this much simpler.

09What happens if my application is rejected?

A rejection is permanent, and there is no second opportunity to reapply. Only in rare cases may an appeal be submitted for re-evaluation, where there is clear reason to believe the decision rested on a misunderstanding or incomplete information. Because of this, please prepare thoroughly and check every detail before you submit.

10Once I am accepted, how often can I ask for support, and how much?

Once onboarded, you may apply for support once a month for twelve months. The Foundation sets the maximum a minister may request and revises it from time to time, so that support remains fair and sustainable. Single, married, full-time and part-time ministers are assessed in ways that reflect their different circumstances.

11Will anyone find out that I received help?

Not from us. The Foundation never publishes the names or details of the shepherds it supports. Your information is used only to assess your application and arrange support, and it is handled under our Privacy Policy. Some ministers choose to share a testimony, but that is always their own decision.

12Do I have to pay anything to apply?

Never. Applying is completely free, and no one at the Foundation will ever ask you for money to process, speed up or approve an application. If someone asks you to pay in our name, do not pay, and report it to [email protected].

Still have a question?

Write to us and a member of our team will reply by email, usually within three working days.
